Associate Professor Philip Ward

Phil Ward is a clinical neuroscientist with a long-standing interest in using the methods of cognitive neuroscience to understand the underlying basis of attentional abnormalities in people living with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Over the past six years he has developed a program of translational research examining the extend of physical health impairments in people living with mental disorders, and the utility of a range of physical health interventions to improve both physical and mental health outcomes in people living with severe mental illness. From an initial focus on young people experiencing first episode psychosis this work has expanded to people with established psychotic disorders. He is currently exploring how physical health interventions can be applied in low-resource settings in the developing world.
